BOONEVILLE - Three Ashland Blue Devils were represented on the North roster for the 2019 NEMFCA All-Star Game on the campus of Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) in Booneville last Wednesday, May 15.

Erik Bell, Tavionne Stigger and Zayvon Knox each took part in the seventh annual all-star game where their North squad took home the 28-25 win over the South.

"I'm super proud of these young men and how they represented Ashland," said Ashland head coach Christopher Suggs. "Being an all-star is a great accomplishment and is something they will remember forever."

Suggs also served as an assistant coach for the victorious North squad.

"It was such a privilege to coach my seniors one last time on such a grand stage," Suggs added. "The amount of knowledge I received from being around other coaches and the experience will only help me become a better leader and coach for this Ashland program."

The North team jumped out to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter before the South mounted their comeback attempt. The South scored two touchdowns in the final minutes of the second half to get the score to 21-13 by halftime.

The North capitalized on a blocked punt early in the third to use a 17-yard touchdown pass for the 28-13 lead. Once again the South stormed back with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the last of which with 35 seconds remaining to get within three of the lead. The North recovered the onside kick to seal the victory.
