Scholarship recipients at Itawamba Community College for 2019 include Audrey Aguilar of Houston, Merit Award; Alexis Bejarano of Houlka, Merit Award; Charity Alandra Buggs of Houston, Merit Award, Activity Achievement; Taylin Crowley of Woodland, Merit Award; Anthony Gonzalez of Houston, Presidential; Ziai Li of Houston, Merit Award, Activity Achievement; Kyler Cade Ozbun of Houlka, Merit Award; Steven Peel of Houston, Merit Award; and Michael Raines Jr. of Houston, Merit Award.

Aguilar is a 2019 graduate of Houston High School where she participated in marching band (four years), concert band (four years), National Spanish Honor Society, Diamond Girls, senior play and journalism/yearbook. Her honors include National Society of High School Scholars, principal’s award (A’s and B’s), and PACE – U.S. history, biology, algebra I and English II. She is the daughter of Cristina Torres.

At South Pontotoc High School where she was a 2019 graduate, Bejarano participated in soccer, cross country and Beta Club. She is the daughter of Jose J. Bejarano and Maria C. Guerrero.

Buggs is a 2019 graduate of Houston High School where she participated in marching and concert band, Student Council (senior representative) and Culinary Arts Club. She is the daughter of Darrin and Barbara Buggs.

Crowley is the daughter of Steve Crowley.

At Houston High School where he was a 2019 graduate, Gonzalez participated in band, FFA, Beta Club and Anchor Club. His honors included Mississippi Lions All-State Band, Northeast Mississippi Youth Orchestra, director’s award, highest average in DC English composition I and II, Patrick S. Gilmore award, John Phillip Sousa award, superintendent’s list and CTE Scholar award. Gonzales’ other activities are Imaculate Heart of Mary VBS, Camp Glenmary, Salvation Army bell ringer and Houston K-12 water crew. He is the son of Ana and Jorge Gonzalez.

Li is a 2019 graduate of Houston High School where he participated in track, badminton, volleyball and Geocaching Club. His other activities include community service. He is the son of Bryan Conner and GuiMei Lin.

At Bruce High School where he was a 2019 graduate, Ozbun participated in Beta Club, Vex robotics and SkillsUSA. His honors included first place state engineering and design winner (SkillsUSA), special honors, Lott Leadership and Apex Leadership Summit at Ole Miss. He is the son of Kelly Ozbun.

Peel is a 2019 graduate of Houston High School where he participated in band, archery and jazz band. He is the son of Marie and David Peel.

At Houston High School where he was a 2019 graduate, Raines was a member of FFA. His honors included A and B honor roll and advanced state test. He is the son of Clay and Felicia Ware.
