OKOLONA – The Okolona Chieftains lost on Friday to the Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles. The final score was 49-25 in favor of the Eagles. Okolona falls to 3-7 on the year with this loss. With no playoff hopes the team is currently finishing out play and seeing where some underclassmen can go.
Sadly Okolona could not win any games wherein they were the underdogs. All of their wins came against teams with two wins or even no win teams where Okolona was the heavy favorite.
They did begin to show out against West Lowndes, but they just did not have the stamina to continue into the fourth quarter and win the game. Coach Lamart Harvey should be looking for some new guys to step up into the positions that are being vacated by some talented freshmen. This off season needs to be a very productive one, which every fan of Okolona expects.
Next week, to close out the season, Okolona will play against the Nanih Waiya Warriors. This team will be a heavy challenge for Coach Harvey and his team as they sit with a record of 9-2. Hopefully the Chieftains can finish out the season strong with an outstanding win.
