MAP Professional Delecia Huitt talks with Museum Board as VP Gary Huffman looks on

HOUSTON -- The Chickasaw County Historical & Genealogical Society completed a Museum Assessment Program (MAP) last week.

The purpose of having such an assessment is to have a museum professional come in and look at all aspects of a museum from organization, governance, funding, diversity, museum goals and objectives.

The person conducting the assessment was Delecia Huitt, originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but now living in Chicago. Huitt has over 20 years experience in museum operations including grant writing. In addition to her other museum experience she served as District Supervisor of Missouri State Parks.

As part of the assessment, Huitt met with members of the board of the museum, city officials, community leaders and volunteers.

A written report will be issued in a few weeks. In addition to recommendations that will be made, she will continue to assist us in the future.

Funding for the Museum Assessment Program was paid for by a local anonymous donor.
