Special to the Chickasaw Journal
The Houston Exchange Club will host its Second Annual Prayer Breakfast from 7-8 a.m. Nov. 5 at the Houston First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
The Rev. Al Gaspar will be the speaker.
The event is themed “One Nation Under God” and its aim is to increase appreciation of our rich religious heritage, but also seeks to remind Americans to trust in a higher power for guidance, protection and strength.
The One Nation Under God project was adopted by Exchange leaders seeking to heighten awareness of our rich religious heritage. November, observed nationally as One Nation Under God Month, is a special time of year when citizens join together to increase public appreciation of the important roles religious faith and freedom have played in our nation’s history. The aims of the program are to:
- Build greater respect for the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Promote increased use of the Pledge in schools and at public gatherings.
- Combat all efforts to remove the words "under God" from the Pledge.
- Prayerfully thank God for the blessings of liberty bestowed on America.
Tickets to the event are $10 and can be purchased from any Houston Exchange Club member. For details call Jason at 662-542-9374 or Floyd at 456-3771.
