At this year's annual meeting of the Mississippi Funeral Directors Association, Leland B. Norman Jr., President of Houston Funeral Home, was presented a plaque for his service of 50 years.
Norman joined his mother, Louise Norman, at Houston Funeral Home in 1970 after he graduated from Mississippi State University and completed basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky with the U.S. Army.
After serving as North Mississippi District Governor for three terms, in 1980, he was elected President of the Mississippi Funeral Directors Association where he co-authored the state laws of Mississippi to license Funeral Homes and Funeral Directors. From 1990 to 1994, he was Chairman of the State Board of Funeral Service.
He is honored to receive this award, but also grateful to the families for the faith they have in Houston Funeral Home.
