HOUSTON – Houston Hilltoppers baseball completed the 2019 baseball season with a 19-14 overall record and an 8-2 divisional record, which placed them second in division 4-3A. The Toppers were faced with heavy graduation losses from the 2018 season.

VARDAMAN – The Vardaman Lady Rams Fast-Pitch Softball Team won the first-ever Calhoun County Schools Fast-Pitch State Championship. They also won the first state championship for the school since 1969.

During the 2018-2019 school year, Head Coach Ty Hardin’s Houston Hilltoppers broke many school records with their accomplishments. The Hilltopper Football Team broke a school record with eleven wins, and almost every school record on offense and defense.
The 2018-2019 sports season was a season of youth and experience for Houlka High School Athletics. I interviewed three coaches and all three’s first words were: “We were extremely young.” All teams however, improved a great deal throughout the season.
