Countless hours of training and preparation at Powerzone Gym have finally paid off for Fulton’s Jake Shelton.
Shelton finished first in multiple events at the WPA World Cup International Championships, held Oct. 12 at Dungeon Fitness in Bremerton, Washington.
Weighing in at 260 pounds, Shelton competed in the 275-pound weight class. He finished first in both the bench press and dead-lift with weights of 407.8 pounds and 639.8 pounds, respectively. His push/pull total was 1,047.6 pounds.
The wins were bittersweet for Shelton, who was competing in memory of his father, who died on Sept. 26, just weeks before the event.
