Anna Porter knew when she took over at her alma mater that she was in for a rebuilding process. That was clear, last week, as the IAHS Lady Indians faced the Oxford Lady Chargers in their season opener.

The Chargers were a formidable foe, and the first quarter saw both teams struggling. By the end of the period, Oxford led 19-7.

In the second quarter, the Lady Indians turned up the heat on defense and got as close as five, but still trailed 26-18 at the half.

Oxford returned the favor in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Indians 18-0. After three, the Chargers led 44-18 after three.

The Lady Indians scraped until the very end, but Oxford walked away with a 61-28 win.

Genise Dabbs led IAHS in scoring with 12 points, followed by Dela Shumpert with 6 points.
