Our annual Best of Itawamba poll is here, and while it is meant to highlight the very best our county has to offer, we here at The Times know good and well it can’t possibly do that.
This year’s poll featured 88 categories covering what we believed at the time to be the gamut of local eateries, businesses, people, events and community organizations. As usual, participation in the poll has been … and we do not use this word flippantly … amazing. More than 2,200 of you cast ballots an astounding 76,000 times via our online poll. It’s not quite the highest participation in the poll’s long history (that would be last year), it’s darn close. To every single one of our voters, thank you.
Each year, we here at The Times are amazed at the response Best of Itawamba receives. We’re usually asked about the poll before it launches. As soon as it does (sometimes within hours), our readers are eager to know the results.
Because we know so many people look forward to the poll and its results each year, and because we want to ensure that it represents as much of Itawamba County as possible, we take care in picking our categories we think best cover the entirety of Itawamba County’s communities. Prior to launching each year’s poll, we sit down as a staff and go category-by-category, removing some and adding others. We take reader feedback seriously, and at least a handful of reader-suggested categories make it on to the ballot each year.
That said, we know there’s always room for improvement. We are continually open to suggests for new, relevant categories for the Best of poll. Please, contact us at any time by calling (662-655-2141), emailing (firstname.lastname@example.org will get you to the right place) or contacting us through one of our various social media accounts (we’re always @itawambatimes) with your suggestions.
Now, please, take a moment and flip to section B to check out this year’s Best of Itawamba winners. And if any of your favorite businesses or people won this year, be sure to congratulate them for doing what they do as well as they do it.
