Traffic stop nets $100K drug bust

Itawamba authorities say they seized more than $100,000 in illegal drugs, lots of cash and a gun during an April 10 traffic stop in Mantachie. An Alabama man has been arrested in connection with the crime.

Itawamba authorities have arrested an Alabama man accused of trafficking more than $100,000 worth of illegal narcotics into Mississippi.

Deputies have charged Gregory Keith King, 32, of Hodges, Ala. with trafficking of a controlled substance enhanced due to the possession of a firearm. Itawamba law enforcement officials say King was arrested during an April 10 traffic stop on Highway 371 in Mantachie. During the stop, a K9 officer allegedly alerted to approximately 10 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription pills hidden in King’s vehicle. Deputies say they also found a firearm and large sum of cash.

King’s bond was set at $50,000. He is currently being held in the Itawamba County Jail.

Officials say the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and Mantachie Police Department assisted with the arrest.
