A mild autumn day lent its favor on a few thousand trick-or-treaters, Tuesday of last week, for Fulton’s annual Scare on the Square. Dinosaurs, fairies and superheroes were among the unique characters who paraded the streets of downtown. Not to be outdone by the candy-hungry children in wildly elaborate costumes, participating businesses, churches, individuals and officials decorated their designated spots around the courtsquare and gave out enough candy to make a dentist squirm (or cackle, depending on the dentist). Bags and buckets were filled to rim with enough sweets to fuel youthful sugar highs until the event inevitably rises from the grave next year.
