WESSON – The words of Itawamba Community College head football coach summed up the No. 4 Indians’ 48-7 loss to No. 9 Copiah-Lincoln Community College perfectly.
“It was a good old fashion butt kicking,” said Williams.
The Indians (5-1, 3-0 MACJC North) were steam rolled by the Wolves’ (5-1, 2-1 MACJC South) best offensive output of the season as they rolled up 645 yards of total offense in the victory.
ICC had three interceptions on the night, including one returned 74 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
The Indians’ lone touchdown came on a 7-yard pass to Shante Rogers (Itawamba AHS) from Griff Loftis (Mooreville) in the second quarter to make it 20-7.
Loftis finished with 147 yards on 13 of 41 passing with Jarvis Bentley (Carver, GA) hauling in five catches for 58 yards. Chris Ingram (Southaven) rushed for 58 yards on 14 carries to round out ICC’s 197 yards of total offense.
Co-Lin QB Daniel Fitzwater (Shreveport, LA) completed 21 of 39 pass for 440 yards and three touchdown passes.
The Indians will look to rebound as the re-enter MACJC North play on the road against Coahoma Community College on Saturday.
