Mantachie softball enjoyed another successful season in 2023, advancing to the third round of the Class 3A playoffs.
For their accomplishments, the Lady Mustangs were ranked sixth in the Daily Journal's final rankings of the top 10 high school softball teams in Northeast Mississippi.
Behind the pitching of Ramsey Montgomery and Allie Ensey, as well as standout hitting from Lillianna Cates and Allysa Gray along with solid performances up and down the order, the Lady Mustangs put up an overall record of 18-8. Mantachie managed a 3-5 record in a stout Region 1-3A, which included South State champion Booneville and South State runner-up Kossuth. It was Kossuth that put an end to the Lady Mustangs' season in the third round before advancing to face Booneville.
Mantachie will return all but two players next year, with Montgomery, Ensey, Cates, Gray and more key contributors coming back for the 2024 campaign.
