HATLEY - While most folks were trying their best not to float away in all the rain water Friday night, the Mustangs were squaring off in Monroe county against the division rival Hatley Tigers.

Unfortunately, the weather was not the only thing working against the Mantachie that night; the game was dismal for the Mustangs from first pitch to final out.

The Mustangs lone hit/run came in the fifth inning when Hayden Farquhar doubled and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Drew Langley.

Farquhar would score later on a Hunter Dill sacrifice fly, but the offense would stop there.

Clayton Wood started the game for Mantachie but struggled to find the strike zone in less than stellar playing conditions.

Though he managed four strikeouts, the home team Tigers tallied 11 runs in five innings for a run rule victory that dropped the Mustangs to 2-2 in division play.

Hatley 9, Mantachie 0 (3/24)

Mantachie struggled to get anything going at all during last Tuesday’s home game against Hatley.

Cory Murphy homered and drove in three runs while Blake Goodin doubled and drove in two more, en route to a 9-0 victory
