Fulton's Chad Ramey tied for 14th at last week's Shriners Children's Open, a PGA Tour event. Ramey shot a cumulate 15-under par in the four-day event to earn $134, 750.
Ramey opened the tournament at the TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada with an eight-under par 63 on Thursday. He followed that with a six-under par 65 on Friday to head into the weekend tied for first at 14-under par. At the end of the day Saturday, Ramey sat tied for third after shooting a two-under par 69. Ramey stumbled on Sunday with two double bogeys and a bogey on the front nine. With only one birdie on the front, Ramey regrouped and birdies on the 13th, 15th and 16th holes moved him into a top-15 finish early in the Tour's season.
Ally Ewing was in New Jersey playing in the LPGA Tour's Cognizant Founders Cup. She opened with a 69 on Thursday and a 70 on Friday and was in good position to climb up the leaderboard on moving day. Ewing shot a 75 on Saturday to move in the wrong direction before shooting a 70 again on Sunday to end the tournament at one-under par in a tie for 55th place.
