Firefighters and civilians begin a long, somber trek up and down the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs – the same distance emergency responders who fought to rescue survivors of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center would have climbed – during the 9/11 memorial stair climb at the Davis Event Center, Saturday. The event, previously held at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo, was hosted by the Fulton Fire Department. Participants, many of whom were firefighters decked in full gear, came from across Northeast Mississippi.
