The Tremont Attendance Center Eagles began their 2019-20 season on the road at Hickory Flat Attendance Center. It was a big night for the road team, which returned to their nest with a 64-30 blowout win over the Rebels.
The matchup started out interesting, with a tight first quarter that ended with the Eagles at a slight advantage. Tremont entered the second period with a 10-7 edge over their opponents.
The Eagles began to pull away in the second quarter. They exploded for 23 points and held Hickory Flat to single digits. By halftime, Tremont led 33-15.
Tremont’s defense was even better in the third quarter. They held the Rebels to just 4 points and while simultaneously adding to their own lead. With just a quarter left to play, the Eagles were up 49-19.
The Eagles held the edge again in the fourth, outscoring Hickory Flat 15-11 to end the game 64-30.
Konner Sartin and Chase Parker led the Eagles with 19 points each. Jessie Sartin had 7 points, Jonas Grimmer 6 points, Brayden Burroughs 4 points, Tyler Whitaker 4 points, Jacob South 4 points and Devin Pounders 1 point.
Tremont played again on Saturday, this time at South Pontotoc. The Eagles came home with a 54-30 win. The Lady Eagles suffered a 50-6 loss.
The teams play at home for the first time this season on Friday when they host Blue Mountain High School. The girls’ varsity game begins at 6 p.m. The varsity boys will follow.
