Survivor: Confronting suicide worth fight

TUPELO – North Mississippi Medical Center will host the 19th annual Live Well Health Fair from noon-7 p.m. Thursday at the Tupelo Furniture Market, Building 5.

NMMC and the District II Office of the Mississippi State Department of Health will give free seasonal flu shots.

NMMC representatives and other community organizations will provide a variety of free health screenings, including blood pressure, glaucoma, vision, stroke, sleep apnea and body mass index. Bone density screening will be available for women who have not previously been diagnosed with osteoporosis. A $5 blood test is available to screen for cholesterol (HDL, LDL and triglycerides) and glucose (blood sugar). The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test will be offered for $20 to screen for prostate cancer.

Health professionals will provide information, discuss health concerns and answer participants’ questions one on one.
