VERONA – Verona Police Chief Marsenio Nunn and Investigator David Washington accompanied the wife and family of the former Assistant Chief Johnny Patterson to Washington, D.C., to attend events during National Police Week 2023.
The memorial service for Patterson was May 15, 2023. He was one of 453 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2022. Patterson’s name was placed on the Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.
Patterson was on duty as a school resource officer and was directing traffic in front of a school in Shannon on Jan. 12, 2022 when he was injured by a motorist. He died from his injuries on Jan. 21, 2022.

Most booths are at least 50 to 60% off original price. Store hours are Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• The City of Verona will celebrate its 163rd birthday with a “Party at the Park” on Saturday, July 15.
• The G Spot, located next door to the Verona Post Office on South Raymond Avenue, is just about finished and will have a soft opening this weekend. The G Spot will be open to the public and for private events as well. Come enjoy the open patio and the outdoor experience this summer.
