Tupelo's own Lee Williams and The Spiritual QCs will bring their nationwide show to Lee County for a "Down-Home Gospel Family Reunion."

"This is a new thing we're doing for the fans," said Dexter Witherspoon, the QCs manager and booking agent.

The event will be Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, at the Lee County Agri-Center. Tickets are $15/advance and $20/at the gate Friday and $20/advance and $25/at the gate Saturday. Kids under 18 get in for $5 at the gate.

In addition to the QCs, the reunion will feature Doc McKenzie and The Hi-Lites, The Mississippi Mass Choir, The Williams Brothers, The Canton Spirituals and many more

"From 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, we'll have up-and-coming groups competing in a sing-off," Witherspoon said.

They'll be competing for best quartet, choir, soloist and mixed group. Winners will get a chance to appear on a CD with Lee Williams and The Spiritual QCs. Performers can register for the contest until Thursday, July 24.

At 7 p.m. Friday night, the headliners will perform.

The sing-off will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, with the headliners taking the stage at 5 p.m.

Cash and prizes

In addition to music, there will be concessions as well as contests for best barbecue, cake, pie, tea and lemonade.

"We'll award cash prizes for the winners," Witherspoon said.

People also will be able to win five-foot-tall trophies for longest married couple, largest family present, oldest person, person traveling the farthest and pastor with the largest membership present.

The reunion will provide an opportunity to hear songs from Lee Williams and The Spiritual QCs' latest album, "Right On Time," which was released in June.

"Basically, we want people to come out and have a good time," Witherspoon said.
