The airwaves will be filled with touching stories from those whose lives have been bettered by Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center when Wizard 106.7 kicks off its second radiothon to benefit the hospital.

The three-day annual event, beginning at 6 a.m. Nov. 6, will feature Wizard 106.7 personalities broadcasting live from the Mall at Barnes Crossing and the station's studio, where they will interview patients, parents and staff members from Le Bonheur.

There also will be a Wizard 106.7 staff member broadcasting from inside Le Bonheur.

"Le Bonheur is a wonderful place for kids and they need our support. I hope everyone will listen, contribute and learn more about Le Bonheur," said Paul Stone, morning personality for Wizard 106.7.

Last year's Wizard 106.7 radiothon raised more than $25,000 for the children at Le Bonheur.

"We are so excited about this year's radiothon," said Connie Haygood, regional representative for Le Bonheur. "Wizard is helping us tell Le Bonheur's story of families and children who have been helped by the range of services we offer."

Those wishing to help with raising funds for this year's event can get a head start on the radiothon by becoming a Change Wizard for Le Bonheur. As a Change Wizard, volunteers gather spare change from their co-workers, families and friends, Stone said. To become a Change Wizard, contact Stone or Kelli Karlson at 842-1067.

All of the money raised through the Change Wizard and radiothon programs will help purchase life-saving equipment, fund research and provide patient-care programs for the hospital.

Founded in 1952, Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center is a pediatric medical facility, with 225 beds and a medical staff of 500. More than 100,000 children throughout the region are treated annually on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
