Fowler Jane Bost and her brother, Sawyer, take in the beauty of Christmas while visiting Corner Flowers and Gifts during last year’s Amory Main Street Christmas Open House.

AMORY – Amory Main Street will again be featuring a cider trail during its annual Christmas Open House weekend which kicks off Nov. 7. Open house, which features sales and festive decorations, continues through Nov. 10 at several local businesses.

Amory Main Street Director Alyssa Benedict is excited about the prospects of a good weekend after Amory was blessed with a tremendous evening for ChiliFest. Businesses will be decorated to reflect Christmas in Amory, as well as some favorite holiday destination spots such as Christmas in New York, Christmas at Disney and Christmas in the mountains.

“Join us as Amory welcomes the holiday season,” Benedict said.

The hours for the open house and Cider Sip will extend from 4 until 8 p.m. on Nov. 7.

“Many of the businesses will be participating in the Cider Sip on Thursday night,” she said. “If you try all the cider stops, your cider sip card will be entered in a drawing for a $100 Main Street gift certificate. If you try a portion of the cider stops, you could win a $50 Main Street gift certificate. Deli 802 and Bill’s Hamburgers are two of our cider stops on Main Street that will also be open for dinner.”

The Cider Trail will be made even more festive with carriage rides and Christmas music from 5 until 8 p.m. the same evening. The carriage rides along Main Street will be available for $3 per person.

Many of the businesses will have special in-store events during open house such as All That & A Little More doing handprint ornaments, professional Santa pictures at Amory Flower Shop and cookie decorating at Brown Eyes Bakery.

“After your Saturday holiday shopping, your family can enjoy the Christmas comedy movie ‘Elf’ at Frisco Park at 6:30 p.m. Hot chocolate from The Coffee Pot will be available onsite,” Benedict said.

The Amory Main Street Association has a Christmas decorating committee that is head up by Tara Farnham of Corner Flowers & Gifts. City crews will be installing Christmas decorations and lights during the weekend, weather permitting.

Open house weekend will conclude with a Sunday afternoon Sip & Shop from 1 until 5 p.m.
