AMORY – Husband and wife team Chris and Lorie Crenshaw have combined fashion, storage and automobile rentals under one roof through their businesses, Southern Crossing Outfitters, Amory Auto and BoxBob Storage.
He has been in the car rental business in Amory since 2011 in a couple of other locations before developing the current property, which was formerly used by Red Cap Manufacturing. Chris offers rental cars for personal and business use and insurance replacement.
“We wanted to offer a rental service for someone whose car was being repaired or someone who wanted to take a trip and didn’t want to put the miles on their personal vehicle,” he said.
The prior Red Cap building was a perfect location for their plans.
“We liked the property because it has sufficient depth for our storage units,” Chris said.
He designed the BoxBob logo to incorporate a “Red” cap, to pay tribute.
“We have units that vary from 5x10, 10x10, 10x15, 10x20 to 10x30 feet in size,” he said.
Southern Crossing Outfitters occupies the center space between the two other businesses.
“We try to offer brands of clothing and accessories that are appealing to all ages,” he said.
Southern Crossing Outfitters’ featured brands include Patagonia, Southern Marsh, Properly Tied, Southern Shirt Company, Kuhl, Yeti, Costa Del Mar, Saxx underwear and several others.
The Crenshaws plan to add amenities, although the buildings have expanded to take in all allowable space on the property.
“We have several things we would like to do,” Chris said. “We have added security features for the storage units and plan to pave the parking area.”
Crenshaw also announced that weekday business hours will be extended to 6 p.m. throughout the holiday shopping season.
