The Mississippi Department of Revenue’s September sales tax diversion report indicated varying results for Monroe County’s municipalities, with one local city indicating gains from both the previous month and the same period last year.

Amory’s total of $204,261 was an increase from last month’s $203,508 and last year’s $194,657.

Aberdeen’s total of $72,044 indicated decreases from last month’s $77,923 and last year’s $77,082 in sales tax collections.

While Nettleton’s $44,683 in sales tax collections was an increase from $37,109 this time last year, it was a decrease from last month’s $49,120 total.

Smithville’s total of $5,671 was reflective of a decrease compared to last month’s $6,535 and last year’s $5,772.

Hatley witnessed an increase from last year’s $2,820 with its total of $3,473 for the month but a decrease compared to $3,532 last month.

The September report indicates purchases made locally during the month of August.
