Auditions for Itawamba Community College’s choir and CenterStage for 2019 have been rescheduled for May 8 in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus.
Times include choir, chamber and vocal major auditions at 1 p.m., and CenterStage auditions are at 3 p.m.
Students who are interested in choir and chamber singers will be vocalized, asked to match pitches and possibly sing a hymn such as “Amazing Grace.” In addition, those who are interested in chamber singers will be asked to sight-read a small piece of music. Students interested in majoring in voice must bring a prepared piece of music with either a track or music for an accompanist (if necessary), or they can make personal preparations for an accompanist.
Vocalists who are interested in CenterStage will be required to audition for the choir. Students will perform a prepared song of their choice, vocalize on various scales and sight read. After the choir auditions, the choreography that will be performed for auditions will be taught in an impromptu session. Each participant will also sing his/her vocal selection during this time. Having an accompaniment track or an accompanist has historically helped with the auditioning process. No a capella singing is suggested, and an accompanist will be provided if necessary.
