Greenwood Springs native Leah Rose will headline the Third Thursday for July 18 at the stage in Frisco Park. The Nashville-based singer/songwriter was nominated for a Jose Music Award for independent artists this year.

AMORY – A Monroe County singer/songwriter will play tunes July 18 at Frisco Park as part of Amory Main Street’s Third Thursday series. Leah Rose, a Greenwood Springs native and Nashville recording artist, will perform from 6:30 until 8 p.m. on the park’s stage.

She penned her song "Smithville" the month she graduated from Smithville High School in 2018.

“I was asked to write a jingle for and about the town,” she said. “It’s a song that they could use in their business campaign to help bring companies and jobs back to town in an effort to replace what we lost in the 2011 tornado.”

While in high school, she was a member of the Smithville marching band, which won the state championship.

In addition to live music, there will be shopping opportunities downtown.

“It’s National Get to Know Your Customer Day. Many of the businesses will have extended hours,” said Amory Main Street Director Alyssa Benedict.

Those attending the musical performance will need to bring their own seating, and nearby restaurants will be open to provide food and drink.
