AMORY – Amory Main Street will celebrate many people’s favorite food May 18 through its Third Thursday, which is actually on a Saturday this month. This month’s theme is Burgers at the Bend, which is from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
“May is National Hamburger Month, so we wanted to celebrate our popular burger joints on Main Street located at Vinegar Bend,” said Amory Main Street Director Alyssa Benedict.
According to Benedict, 2019 marks the 90th year Bill’s Hamburgers has been in business. The iconic eatery will have birthday specials, including 90-cent hamburgers for the first 90 customers. The 90th customer receives a free T-shirt and meal.
Country Boy’s will host an eating contest from noon until 2 p.m. to see if someone can beat the current record. The new record holder will need to eat 14 burgers along with an order of French fries to break the record. The winner gets his or her meal for free.
Live music will also be featured in the Vinegar Bend Pocket Park for the entertainment of patrons, whether they’re eating burgers or not.
Burgers at the Bend coincides with the Spring in to Summer Sidewalk Sale throughout downtown.
“It should be a fun day to get out and shop the sidewalk sale down Main Street and enjoy Burgers at the Bend,” Benedict said.
