ABERDEEN – An Aberdeen woman, Lillian Cayson, 31, was charged with murder Tuesday night after confessing to killing 39-year-old Moses Daniels. Aberdeen Assistant Police Chief Quinell Shumpert said the case stemmed from a vehicle being repossessed.
“Supposedly, she called the place that Moses had bought the car from. They hadn’t been making the payment. They were hiding the van out. She called and told them where the van was. Then they called her angry about it. She went over and confronted him about it. An argument ensued, and she pulled a weapon and shot him,” he said.
The Aberdeen Police Department received the call at 7:12 p.m. that a black male was shot at 609 Baptist St.
“Upon arriving on the scene, we found Moses Daniels laying on the sidewalk deceased with one gunshot wound. Witnesses there stated that Lillian Cayson did the shooting. Officers went to her address on North Matubba Street and placed her under arrest and took her to the police department,” Shumpert said.
Cayson was charged with murder.
Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley said the cause of death appears to be a single gunshot wound. He said Daniels’ body was taken to the Mississippi Forensics Laboratory in Pearl for an autopsy.
