AMORY – Authorities from five agencies responded to a call June 18 of a person who jumped off the Highway 278 Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway bridge.
According to Amory Fire Chief Zack McGonagill, his department was dispatched by 911 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
He said the unnamed person was in the water, and two rescue boats were dispatched and made a safe rescue. McGonagill said the person was in a favorable condition.
The person was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center and was in stable condition. In addition to the AFD, the Amory Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and MedStat responded to the scene.
