ABERDEEN – Dr. Cameron Huxford, who specializes in pulmonary and sleep medicine, joined Monroe Regional Hospital’s list of providers last week. Although he has his own primary practice in Starkville, Aberdeen will be his satellite location two days a month.
“Dr. [Lance] Busch had the Hamilton sleep lab and after he left in December of last year, [Monroe Regional Hospital CEO] Chris Chandler was looking for someone to replace him,” Huxford said.
He will practice at the hospital’s medical plaza in Aberdeen from 8 a.m. until noon two Fridays a month. Beginning Jan. 11, he will tentatively be in Aberdeen roughly every two weeks following that date.
After graduating from Ole Miss in 1997, Huxford attended medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
He served with Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle and OCH Regional Medical Center before opening the Huxford Clinic in 2017.
“I grew up across the street from my grandfather, and he was a physician who practiced family medicine in Eutaw, Alabama. I always wanted to do it,” he said of his career aspirations.
Primary symptoms Huxford treats include asthma, COPD, chronic cough, shortness of breath and sleep-related issues such as sleep apnea, loud snoring, breathing pauses at night and excessive daytime sleepiness.
