NETTLETON – During its June 3 meeting, the board of aldermen approved to apply for a Justice Assistance Grant for the Nettleton Police Department. If awarded, it will be used for either equipment or new uniforms.
The NPD has previously been awarded funds through the JAG program for cameras.
In other business, the board dealt with zoning issues including approval for city inspector Shane Davis to get bids to demolish a property alongside Monroe Street and to pay Tom Burnside $1,000 to demolish a city building.
A code issue dealing with a property alongside Young Avenue was tabled.
The board also approved to table 10-year tax exemption applications until its July 1 meeting dealing with Homestretch, United Furniture Industries and Magnum Metals.
Aldermen approved to lease a ballfield to Keep It Movin’ Divas and to allow travel for Willie Morris to attend animal control training in Olive Branch.
