ABERDEEN – Pioneer Preventive Points, a monthly series hosted by Pioneer Community Hospital, will begin Oct. 13 with an educational seminar about flu and pneumonia vaccines hosted by Dr. Mark Friloux from 3 until 4 p.m.

“One of our goals is to provide the highest quality of care. Through doing that, we have started community outreach, and we’ll have monthly classes for people in being more self aware and taking control of their own health and empowering them as patients to have a voice and a say in the care they receive,” said Nikki Wheeler, community care coordinator for rural solutions.

Pioneer’s providers will discuss a different topic each month in their area of expertise or about something they’re passionate about. Looking to November and December, seminars will focus on diabetes and diabetic management ahead of the holidays. There will also be a question and answer session during each class.

“We’ve invited different agencies so people from the community can learn about what services are available for them,” Wheeler said in reference to services like Meals on Wheels and the local food pantries.
