AMORY – The Quality Education Foundation (QEF) recently met and approved a total of $20,297 in grants for the Amory School District for the 2017-18 school year.
“We all know that there is a shortage of state money to be allocated to Mississippi schools,” said QEF President Dee Allison. “QEF board members are so excited that we are able to fund $20,297 in grants that will continue to help teachers and administrators provide a quality education for the students in Amory School District. We would also like to encourage all supporters of education to consider donating money to QEF. QEF is the only organization that consistently supports education in the Amory School District. Amory has a population of just over 7,000 people, and less than 100 people in Amory donate to QEF.”
Grants awarded to Amory schools included the following – West Amory Elementary School, $7,668 for tutoring program; East Amory Elementary School, $4,000 for Accelerated Reading and S.T.A.R. programs; Amory Middle School, $1,000 to update library books and $1,000 for the purchase of art supplies for the art program at Amory Middle School and Amory High School; Amory High School, $3,925 for ACT (online prep program, bootcamp and teacher training; and Amory Career & Technical Center, $2,704 for the HAAS CNC Control Simulator for Metal Fabrication program and a laminating machine for the Teacher Academy program.
Amory School District Superintendent Ken Byars responded on behalf of the educators he serves.
“QEF has always been extremely gracious to support many of our schools’ programs. Our students directly benefit from their contributions. Without the support of QEF, we could not have taken many of our programs to the level they are today,” said Amory School District Superintendent Ken Byars.
