AMORY – An Amory man is facing murder charges following a Feb. 7 shooting that left one man dead.
According to Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley, Dennis Trenard Ezell, 34, of Amory was dead on arrival at North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory at 6:51 p.m.
Through a Facebook post, the Amory Police Department stated officers responded to the shooting near the intersection of J Avenue and 111th Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. The victim was found with gunshot wounds and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect in the case, Jermaine Artez McIntosh, 40, was identified, and law enforcement began searching for him. He soon turned himself in to authorities without incident, and the weapon was recovered, according to the APD post.
McIntosh was transported to the Monroe County Detention Center ahead of his bond hearing in justice court. Monroe County Justice Court Judge Sarah Stevens set bond at $300,000.
The APD post stated the case, in its entirety, will be presented to a Monroe County Grand Jury for consideration of the charge.
“We greatly appreciate the cooperation of witnesses and the assistance given by MCSO, MHP, along with other local agencies,” the post stated.
Gurley said the state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy at a later date.
