Jackie’s International to open Fresh Market Cafe in former Western Sizzlin location

A new restaurant will be opening soon in New Albany. Housed in the former Western Sizzlin building, Fresh Market Cafe will be opening in March and will provide local residents and visitors a restaurant complete with fresh food and home cooked food.

There are more Fresh Market Cafes in central Mississippi, but this will be the first of its kind in New Albany.

Fresh Market Cafe is owned by Jackie’s International, Inc., which is a Mississippi-based company with its corporate headquarters in Canton, Miss.

Comprised of businesses and restaurants like Bumpers Drive-In, Western Sizzlin, Certified Hospitality Hotel division, Pan-Asia, Super Saver Systems, Fresh Market Cafe and Certified Construction Company, Jackie’s International, Inc. employs over 1800 employees throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Arkansas.

In addition, Jackie’s International also owns hotel properties such as Hilton Garden Inn, Best Western, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn Express, though not all in Union County.

Dr. S. L. Sethi of Jackie’s International, Inc., said that the Fresh Market Cafe will be a blue plate style restaurant that is similar to a Piccadilly.

According to Jackie’s International, “Our Fresh Market Cafe concept offers fresh, healthy, home-cooked meals that you can drive up and run with or come in, relax and enjoy. Our menu is set up so guests create their own plates by choosing from our selection of tasty meats, vegetables, breads and desserts. We are convenient for families on the go, and moms can rest easy knowing that it’s a healthy meal for the kids.”

Patrons can choose from the menu items like entree combo plates, fresh vegetables, homemade breads, and desserts. Some of the menu items are, but not limited to rosemary roasted chicken, angus chopped steak, braised pot roast, southern fried catfish, country fried steak, chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, fried okra, green beans, and a variety of steamed vegetables.

“All of our food is fresh and home cooked,” said Dr. Sethi. According to Jackie’s International, no grease, oil or butter is used.

Fresh Market Cafe will be located at 302 Hwy. 30 W. An opening date and a ribbon cutting ceremony date and time will be announced at a later date.
