We have had a busy two weeks here at West Union. Plenty of games were played, a queen crowned and very special memories were made.

The musical students put on a Christmas program for the public, and everyone I talked to really enjoyed and said it was a fantastic performance. The high school has been the busiest of all these past few weeks.

The first that comes to mind was all the basketball games that were played by our outstanding teams. The girls and boys both showed great competition as they battled throughout these weeks. Although we saw both victory and defeat, these players held their head high and showed great sportsmanship.

Also last week was our annual homecoming week. The school was over come with nerds, senior citizens, many characters, school spirit and the best of all eight beautiful young ladies represented the school. The 2010-2011 West Union Homecoming court consisted of:

Freshman maid: Reagan Coffey escorted by Chase Bogue

Sophomore maid: Amber Kirk escorted by Drew Warford

Junior maid: Alex Orman escorted by Joey Dillard

Senior maid: Bailey Bates escorted by Devin Pearce

Senior maid: Courtney Dillard escorted by Dustin Dees

Senior maid: Allie Newby escorted by Kyle Taylor

Senior maid: Noel Long escorted by Drew Gray

Homecoming Queen: Leah Paige Goolsby escorted by Hunter McQuary

The program made it a moving and memorable night. Also the West Union Beta Club has elected officers including:

President: Bailey Bates

Vice President: Allie Newby

Secretary/Treasurer: Leah Paige Goolsby

Reporter: Jessica Clark

They are also doing ‘Sharing at Christmas’. each Beta member brought a gift for a little boy/girl that truly knows the meaning of Christmas. Well I hope everyone has a special and fantastic Christmas, and remember the true meaning for Christmas that we often look over: God, family, and love. Merry Christmas everyone. Until 2011 have a great new years! Go Eagles!
