MANTACHIE - Mantachie hurt East Union with four touchdown plays over 50 yards on Saturday to take a 44-19 Division 1-2A win of a game that was rescheduled due to Friday's stormy weather.
The Mustangs scored on a 75-yard kickoff return, 65-yard run, 62-yard pass and 51-yard run to take control of the game and stifle any momentum East Union might have early in the contest.
East Union took over at their 18 following a Mantachie punt and drove 82 yards in four plays to register the first points with Craig Hutchens picking up the score on his seven-yard run. Jared Cunningham added the PAT and the Urchins led 7-0 with 5:57 left in the first quarter.
The Urchin lead evaporated on the ensuing kickoff as Trey Hughes scored on a 75-yard return and Tristan Daniel added the run to put the Mustangs up 8-7.
The Mustangs scored again at the 2:34 mark on a Daniel to Hughes 62-yard pass. The pass failed and Mantachie led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Mantachie came back to score two quick touchdowns to regain the momentum going into the half. The first touchdown came on a 65-yard run by Bryce Parker and the Andrew Dill kick made the score 21-13.
The Mustangs scored their next touchdown following an interception that put them in business at the Urchin 19. Alston Dill scored on a 13-yard run and Logan Pettigo's run gave Mantachie a 29-13 lead that they carried into the half.
Mantachie added one more long touchdown with 1:32 left in the third quarter on Daniel's 51-yard scamper and the PAT gave the Mustangs a 36-13 lead.
East Union mounted an eight play drive and scored their final touchdown with 10:23 remaining in the game as Cade Bell scored on a quarterback keeper. The pass failed and the Urchins trailed 36-19.
The final score of the game came on a five-yard run by Pettigo with 5:21 left. Pettigo added the two-point conversion and the Mustangs sealed their 44-19 win.
Hutchens led the Urchins in rushing with 123 yards on seven carries before leaving the game in the second quarter with an injury. Wilkinson added 61 yards on 22 carries. Both players scored a touchdown.
Cade Bell was 6 of 12 passing for 144 yards, but suffered two interceptions. Chase Hall had two receptions for 73 yards and Dallas Wooten had two grabs for 51 yards.
