The 2019 NEMCABB All-Star baseball was Saturday at Corinth. New Albany and Union County had nearly a dozen players that represented our local teams and schools.

East Union placed fourth in Saturday's 2A track and field competition at Potts Camp as Strayhorn edged the Urchins by a half point to claim third. East Union finished the meet with 61.50 points.

East Union boys competing in the 2A track and field regionals at Potts Camp on Monday and the Urchins came away with a second place finish. North Side won the event with 164 points while the Urchins grabbed second with 100.

Myrtle girls had a huge day at the 1-1A Regionals at Potts Camp on Monday as the Hawks won the girls track and field competition by 27 points. Myrtle registered 127 points while Hickory Flat was second with 100.

Ingomar's Gara Beth Self has enjoyed a lot of firsts during her athletic and educational process and Wednesday she made another first as she became the first basketball signee for incoming ICC Women's Basketball Coach Robin Porter.

Ingomar's Kelon Hall was named Player of the Year in Division 1-2A boys and Coach Jonathan Ashley was recognized as Coach of the Year for 2018-19.

The Union County Softball Tournament was held on Friday, March 22 and Saturday March 23 at Myrtle. All five county teams participated in the tournament that featured 10 games. East Union won the championship for the sixth consecutive year as they defeated Myrtle 2-1 in the championship game.

MYRTLE - The Union County Fastpitch title came down to the final inning as East Union scored two runs in their final at-bat and then kept Myrtle from repeating their come-from-behind magic in the bottom half of the inning to win their sixth consecutive title by a 2-1 final.

The New Albany Gazette Union County Track Relays was held on Tuesday March 19 at New Albany High School. Athletes from New Albany, Myrtle, East Union and Ingomar participated in the track and field events with Myrtle winning the girls title and New Albany taking the boys top honors.
