Myrtle High School Principal Justin Hollis shared the following press release concerning Coach Jeremy Smithey and the Myrtle Hawk football program. Smithey had been head coach at Myrtle for three years.

"Coach Jeremy Smithey stepped down as head football coach. He will stay on as an assistant football coach with our program. He came to me a while back with a desire to step back as assistant. We had great discussions about it, and I am so proud of his work with our program so far. Coach Smithey has done a great job and we look forward to him continuing to help our new head coach build our program to a championship level. We will begin to find the right person to take us to where we believe we can be, and that is competing consistently for championships with an emphasis on developing the whole athlete as a player and person! #988 #WE>ME"
