A Mooreville man has been charged with shooting his wife in late July.
Dedric L. Hughes, 35, P.O. Box 372, Mooreville, was arrested Friday after he was discharged from North Mississippi Medical Center, where he had been treated for a head wound that apparently was self-inflicted.
The aggravated assault charge filed against Dedric Hughes stems from the shooting of his wife Amanda Hughes at their County Road 1551 residence, said Sgt. John Hall, a Lee County Sheriff's Department investigator.
Amanda Hughes was shot three times in the head, arm and chest shortly before 10 a.m. July 20. She managed to run to a neighbor's home and was driven to the hospital, Hall said. She was released from the hospital several weeks ago.
Bond for Dedric Hughes was set at $100,000.
