Barry Dean Bertolet, M.D., has joined the staff of Cardiology Associates of North Mississippi. He received a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry from the University of Mississippi. He completed his medical studies at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and his internship and residency at the University of Florida Health Services Center in Gainesville, where he also received postgraduate training in adult cardiology. Before associating with Cardiology Associates, he was serving as assistant professor of medicine for the Division of Cardiology at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Bertolet has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including being selected for and listed in "Best Doctors in America Southeast Region" in 1996. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the Southern Medical Association; a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology; and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Diane Chen, M.D., has joined the staff at the Tupelo Anesthesia Group, P.A., for the practice of anesthesiology. She received a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry from Haverford College in Pennsylvania, where she was a Charles A. Dana Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She completed her medical studies at Harvard Medical School, her internship in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and her residency in anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She has postdoctoral training in thoracic anesthesia from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and in cardiac anesthesia and intensive care unit from Cornell Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Chen is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and Mississippi State Society of Anesthesiologists.
David Talton, M.D., has joined the staff of the Surgery Clinic of Tupelo, P.A., for the practice of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from North Carolina State University. He completed his medical studies at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C., and his cardiothoracic and general surgery residencies at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Dr. Talton is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is an associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Mark Craig, M.D., has joined the staff of The Surgery Clinic of Tupelo, P.A., for the practice of plastic surgery. He receive his bachelor of arts degree in physics from the University of Mississippi, where he was a Carrier Scholar, and a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society and Mortar Board. He completed his medical studies, internship and residency program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident of general surgery. He comes to Tupelo from the Medical College of Georgia, where he was chief resident of plastic surgery.
Dr. Craig has served on the House Staff Board of Directors for the UM Medical Center. He is a member of the American Medical Association and Mississippi State Medical Association.
Robert Martin Risch, M.D., has joined the North Mississippi Medical Center's Emergency Services Department for the practice of emergency medicine. He completed his medical studies at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and his internship and residency in emergency medicine at Carolinas Medical Center. He joined NMMC's medical staff in July.
