The monthly BookLunch at Evans Memorial Library will be March 21 at noon.
Robert Bruce Smith will review his book "Madness and the Mississippi Bonds," which was published in 2004. His story is based on the famous Mississippi bond scandal that became a worldwise "cause celebre" in the decades immediately preceding the Civil War.
Smith, a Mississippi native, spent his childhood in Ripley, graduated from Tupelo High School and received his B.A. from Ole Miss. He served in the United States Air Force, spent 19 years as a representative for the Community Concerts division of Columbia Artists Management in New York City, and then worked as a computer specialist and systems manager for Kraft Foods, Inc.
Smith presently resides in Tupelo, where he does technology consulting and enjoys researching topics about science, architecture, and Mississippi history.
The public is invited to attend the March 21 BookLunch at the library. Lunch will be available for $5.
