IUKA – The fire that destroyed a house in Burnsville Thursday has been ruled arson. The main suspect died from injuries sustained in the fire.
Tishomingo County Sheriff John Daugherty said the house fire at 65 Front St., Burnsville, was deliberately set Thursday morning. Evidence at the scene and witness statements pointed fire investigators toward suspect Ronald Cannon, who was previously in a relationship with the homeowner.
Firefighters responded to the fire and possible explosion around 7 a.m. and located Cannon on the scene. He had suffered severe burns over most of his body and was transported by air to a burn center in Memphis, where he died later the same day.
Daugherty said the homeowner was not home at the time of the fire and has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
