BancorpSouth to pay dividend on July 3
TUPELO – BancorpSouth Inc. (NYSE: BXS) will pay a cash dividend of 12.5 cents per common share on July 3, 2017 to shareholders of record at the close of business on June 15, 2017.
BancorpSouth earlier reported financial results for the first quarter of 2017. Net income was $38.1 million, or 41 cents per, and net operating income – excluding MSR – was $36.9 million, or 39 cents per diluted share.
BancorpSouth is a financial holding company with $14.9 billion in assets. BancorpSouth Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of BancorpSouth Inc., operates 234 full service branch locations as well additional mortgage, insurance, and loan production offices in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas, including an insurance location in Illinois.
Disappointing retail earnings drag on stocks
Disappointing quarterly results from Macy’s, Kohl’s and other big department store chains put investors in a selling mood Thursday, sending U.S. stocks modestly lower.
Stocks in the consumer discretionary sector, which includes many retailers, slumped the most.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell 5.19 points, or 0.2 percent, to 2,394.44. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 23.69 points, or 0.1 percent, to 20,919.42. The Nasdaq composite declined 13.18 points, or 0.2 percent, to 6,115.96, a day after closing at another all-time high. The Russell 200 index dropped 9.39 points, or 0.7 percent, to 1,390.20.
The yield on the 10-year Treasury note slipped to $2.39 percent from 2.41 percent. Benchmark U.S. crude oil rose 50 cents to settle at $47.83 per barrel in New York. Gold inched up $5.30 to settle at $1,224.20 an ounce.
