Krab Kingz

TUPELO • The hiring is all but complete, and details are being hashed out as Krab Kings seafood restaurant is set to open the weekend of June 14.

The restaurant is located in the former Fresh Market Cafe near the intersection of South Gloster Street and Cliff Gookin Boulevard/Eason Boulevard, sandwiched between the Chevron and what had been a Gold Star Chinese restaurant.

The restaurant passed its inspection Wednesday, and exterior signage is expected to go up this week.

The seafood will be domestic, pulled mostly from the Gulf, with a menu similar to the Memphis location.

A sampling of the menu, which is divided into several sections includes:

• The Krab & Go lunch menu includes combo platters. The K&G Prince Loaded, for example, comes with a snow crab cluster, 10 shrimp, 1 sausage, corn, egg and potatoes.

• The Krab Kingz Boiled menu also has several combination platters, including the Krab Kingz Sampler that includes snow crabs, dungeness crab, blue crab and potato for $58.99. The Just Snow Krab platter has two snow crab clusters, 1 sausage, 1 corn, and egg and potatoes for $25.99. The same combo with 17 shrimp instead of the snow crab is $21.99

• The Krab Kingz Fried menu includes several options as well, including the basic Fish Platter (three strips with fries and cole slaw for$13.99) and a Loaded Fried lobster, Fish and Shrimp platter goes for $30.99.

The restaurant is menu-only – no buffet – and hours for now will be Thursday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
