TUPELO – To kick off its 29th year, the Tupelo Furniture Market awarded Peak Furniture with the 54th Biannual National Buyer’s Award on Thursday. For the past  24 years, the company has traveled from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to the All-America City for the market.

After welcoming the buyers and vendors to Tupelo, Mayor Jason Shelton presented the trophy to Ron Greeno, owner of Peak Furniture.

“Peak Furniture is a locally owned company that has over 35 years of home furnishing experience,” Shelton said. “They understand that your home is your sanctuary and furnishing your home is an investment.”

He also thanked the supporters of the Tupelo Furniture Market.

“Since 1987, this market has grown to become one of the largest in the United States and something we are very proud of here,” Shelton said. “Furniture is huge business in Northeast Mississippi.”

Greeno accepted the award, thanking all the participants that came to the award ceremony. He said the National Buyer’s Award is the first award his company has received.

“It’s awesome,” he said. “It means a lot to me coming from Tupelo because it’s one of my favorite furniture shows.”

The hospitality of Tupelo kept bringing Greeno back to the market. He said he sees a lot of American-made furniture that attracts him to continue participating in the market.

“I like the down-home atmosphere here,” he said. “The people itself bring me back.”

The market keeps Greeno up to date on the newest furniture trends so he can stay ahead of the game.

“The market always shows new product, the availability of product, what’s coming out new and what’s available now,” he said. “You can look to the future on what you want to order.”

Greeno said he believes he won the award for his company’s longtime support of the Tupelo Furniture Market. A panel of market officials and others vote for the award recipient.

Greeno said Peak Furniture sets itself apart by offering new furniture, furniture for corporate housing and consignment furniture. He hopes to see his company grow bigger and benefit the public more.

To celebrate his win, Greeno plans on having a beer.

“I appreciate everything everybody’s done for me down here,” he said. “It’s just a good group of people here.”
