OXFORD - The Lafayette County Commodores clinched a Region 1-4A playoff berth with 41-14 win against Saltillo.
Lafayette's Dallas Mooneyham scored the first touchdown of the game on a 6-yard touchdown run.
Saltillo (2-7, 2-3) responded in the second quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Jamison Shells. The PAT was good giving Saltillo a 7-6 lead.
The Commodores (4-5, 3-2) scored on 12-yard touchdown run by Chris Vaughn. A pass from Mooneyham to Vaugh added two points to give Lafayette a 14-7 lead.
Mooneyham then connected on a 12-yard touchdown pass to Travis Cook to leave the score 21-7.
Jeremy Cook then scored on a fourth quarter 98-yard interception for Lafayette.
Terriace Higginbottom 9-yard touchdown run resulted in a 35-7 lead in the fourth quarter.
Saltillo's Jeremy Gaston scored the Tigers' final touchdown on a 2-yard run.
Sam Woods scored the final touchdown for Lafayette on a 31-yard touchdown run.
Smithville 42, Thrasher 7
THRASHER - Brian McCollum threw three touchdown passes as Smithville improved to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in Region 1-1A with the victory.
McCollum connected with Eddrick Stegall on a 46-yard TD reception in the first quarter and two scoring passes in the third, 30 yards to Steven Summerford and 59 yards to A.J. Murphy.
Smithville also got scoring runs of 12 yards by Wesley Scott and 10 yards from Murphy for a 21-0 first quarter lead. Both teams swapped 1-yard TD runs in the second, scored by Smithville's Brandon Easter and Thrasher's Daniel Boone, to make it 28-7 at halftime.
Matt Lenderman and Marcell Knuvelder kicked three PATs each for Smithville and Cal Worley kicked one for Thrasher (0-9 overall, 0-7 region).
Tishomingo County 20, Alcorn Central 19
IUKA - The Braves rallied for their third win of the season.
Alcorn Central (1-8, 0-5 Region 1-4A) led 13-12 at halftime, but John Warner's 70-yard third-quarter touchdown run gave TCHS (3-6, 1-5) a 20-12 lead.
That was good enough for the win after Golden Bears failed on an extra point attempt following a late touchdown.
Josh Hellums led the Braves with 136 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.
Kosciusko 12, West Point 7
KOSCIUSKO - The loss in a key Region 2-4A matchup will make it tough for West Point to reach postseason. No scoring information was available.
