Shane and Jimma Clayton have won the Town & Country Garden Club’s August Yard of the Month.

They live at 141 N. Main Street. In addition to their own yard, the Clayton’s also keep their next door neighbor’s yard looking worthy of Yard of the Month.

Their neighbor is Mrs. John Paul Hodges, and she lives at 137 N. Main Street.

The Garden Club had several nominees that deserve honorable mention. “We will be looking at those yards again during the spring/summer months in 2004,” said Kerry Koehler, Yard of the Month chairperson.

The Garden Club will also be recognizing First National Bank for its year-round, outstanding landscaping efforts during 2003.

The bank president/manager will be presented an award certificate and landscape plant.

The Garden Club will start taking nominations in February 2004 for next year’s nominees.

The first Yard of the Month will be awarded in March and the program will run through September 2004.

The Garden Club will be making a few changes next year to the program. In addition to placing the wrought iron Yard of the Month sign in the winner’s yard, the Garden Club will present each winner with an award certificate and a pass-a-long plant from a club member.
