BYHALIA • Another 400 jobs are coming to Marshall County, on the heels of an announcement last month that 850 jobs were on their way.
On Thursday, Corelle Brands LLC, whose houseware brands include Pyrex, Snapware and Corelle, announced it is moving a portion of its manufacturing and distribution operations to the Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park near Byhalia in Marshall County. Corelle plans to invest $27.7 million and create about 400 jobs by the end of June 2020.
Corelle Brands will open the facility in the Gateway Global Logistics Center inside the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park. The company will lease an approximately 786,000-square-foot facility that is being constructed by Panattoni Development Company.
Corelle’s announcement comes a month after Amazon said it was building a fulfillment center in the same industrial park. The online giant said it will add 850 jobs over three years. Amazon is making improvements to an existing 554,000-square-foot building in the Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing a $2 million grant for building costs and a $4 million grant for road improvements. Marshall County is providing assistance for road improvements and a property tax exemption worth about $6.3 million. Tennessee Valley Authority is also assisting.
For Corelle, MDA is providing a $3.25 million grant to help with equipment relocation and installation, workforce training and infrastructure. In addition, $300,000 in Mississippi Works Funds is being provided for workforce training with $100,000 of that coming this year and $200,000 coming in 2020.
Marshall County is providing grant assistance and qualifying local property tax exemptions, and the Tennessee Valley Authority is providing unspecified help as well.
“Corelle Brands is widely recognized for its iconic brands and quality housewares,” Gov. Phil Bryant said in a press release. “The region’s productive workforce, coupled with North Mississippi’s prime logistical location, will ensure the products made in Marshall County continue the company’s tradition of excellence and are delivered quickly and efficiently to Corelle Brands’ customers.”
Corelle Brands President and CEO Kenneth G. Wilkes said the MDA’s and Marshall County’s partnership with the company “was a key factor in our decision to locate this facility in Mississippi, a move that will improve our operational efficiency and customer service capabilities.”
